Leading mobile payments company cuts estimated transaction processing times by nearly 50 percent with move to Equinix data centers

iZettle, a Stockholm-based mobile payments provider, needed to expand beyond Europe but found its single European data center caused high latency that hurt transaction performance and would deter customers in new markets. Rapid time-to-market was critical — delays risked losing first-mover advantage to competitors.

iZettle built hybrid clouds inside Equinix data centers and used AWS with Equinix Direct Connect to place infrastructure closer to customers; the move grew its footprint from one to three continents in six months and brought a first deployment online in one month. The change cut average latency from 98 ms to 73 ms and reduced estimated transaction time in Mexico from about 9 seconds to 4.8 seconds, enabling faster market entry and better customer experience.
