Case Study: Level 3 Communications achieves low-latency, diverse transatlantic connectivity with Equinix

A Equinix Case Study

Preview of the Level 3 Communications Case Study

Leading international provider of fiberbased communications services turns to Equinix to improve diversity and lower latency between the UK and North America

Level 3 Communications, a leading international provider of fiber-based network services, needed a high-quality, diverse data center partner to improve resilience and reduce latency on transatlantic links between the UK and North America, independent of central London.

By placing its access node at Equinix’s LD4/5 IBX campus in Slough, Level 3 created a shortened backhaul that bypasses central London and provides direct connections to multiple transatlantic routes (including Yellow, AC-1 and Apollo North). The deployment delivered lower latency, increased route diversity and scalable on‑net bandwidth, giving enterprise, content and financial customers improved global connectivity and access to Level 3’s range of network services.
