Increasing performance, security and reliability through Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) and multicloud interconnection

KEMET Electronics, a global manufacturer that ships roughly 54 billion electronic components a year, needed to quickly migrate its core ETBF ERP platform to the cloud while consolidating and simplifying its networking and security posture to maintain operational excellence and improve resiliency. To achieve greater scalability, redundancy and faster disaster recovery, KEMET engaged Open Systems and Equinix to design a high-performance, secure SD‑WAN and hybrid multicloud architecture on Platform Equinix.

Open Systems deployed a managed Secure SD‑WAN with ISP aggregation via Equinix Connect and software‑defined interconnection through ECX Fabric and Oracle Cloud FastConnect, consolidating KEMET’s U.S. presence in Equinix IBX data centers. The move cut cloud connection times from weeks to hours/days, reduced latency to under 10 ms, significantly increased bandwidth, delivered consistent end‑to‑end security, and enabled a cost‑effective cloud disaster‑recovery environment while supporting rapid global expansion.
