IHG meets customers at the edge to redefine the global travel experience

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) needed a more agile hybrid multicloud network to support its virtualization and automation efforts, move data and applications closer to customers, and power the IHG One Rewards mobile app across a global hotel footprint. With guests and properties spread worldwide, IHG needed better performance hubs and simpler connectivity to support innovative, in-region digital services.

Equinix implemented globally interconnected infrastructure across five regions using Network Edge, Equinix Fabric, and private connectivity to link IHG’s on-premises systems, clouds, colocation, and SaaS applications. The result was faster, more secure global deployment, reduced network complexity, and lower latency. Within a year of launching the app on the new platform, IHG enrolled over 115 million customers, while gaining the flexibility to add partners and scale services without rebuilding the network.
