Case Study: Elektrobit achieves 1,000% faster data uploads and processes 49 cars/day with Equinix

A Equinix Case Study

Preview of the Elektrobit Case Study

Global supplier of automotive software products increases upload speeds by 1000% through partnership with Equinix as its dedicated data handler and protector

Elektrobit (EB), a Continental-owned leader in automotive software, faced a major bottleneck: connected and automated vehicle testing generates massive datasets (10–100 TB/day per vehicle), and traditional upload and validation methods could take weeks to months, leaving expensive test cars idle and slowing ADAS/AD development. Meeting industry-scale needs (hundreds of millions of test miles) required a secure, high‑throughput way to ingest, validate and deliver data to cloud compute for rapid analysis.

EB partnered with Equinix, proving a “digital data garage” at the Frankfurt Equinix SVC where cars hand off SSDs to an EB Assist CAR Box and data are uploaded over high‑bandwidth links into Equinix and Microsoft Azure. The result: upload time for 30 cars dropped from ~85 days to about 14 hours, throughput rose from handling at most five cars/day to 49, cloud upload speeds jumped from ~10 MBps to 700+ MBps, and IBX’s 99.9999% uptime and colocation security accelerated validation, reduced idle time and unlocked much faster ADAS/automated driving innovation.
