FirstDigital achieves global expansion with multicloud routing

FirstDigital, a U.S. fiber-based telco, needed to expand its cloud voice services for multinational customers while becoming a certified Cisco Cloud Connected PSTN Provider (CCPP). Achieving CCPP status required diverse regional data centers, private connectivity to Cisco, and multicloud routing between Cisco and AWS—requirements that traditional physical infrastructure would have made slow and costly to deploy.

By adopting Equinix Fabric Cloud Router (as a beta customer) FirstDigital quickly spun up virtual routers in six global metros across Europe, Asia and Australia instead of installing physical equipment. The solution met Cisco’s CCPP requirements, provided low-latency private routing between Cisco and AWS, cut costs by about 80% versus a colocation-based approach, and enabled FirstDigital to offer cost-efficient voice services in 65+ countries with easy scalability for future Microsoft voice expansion.
