A Equinix Case Study

Equinix Marketplace™ Opens up Customer Opportunities for Gamma

Gamma, a UK next-generation network operator delivering hosted VoIP and SIP trunking, needed a best-in-class data centre co-location partner to support growing demand for hosted voice, generate revenue from its data‑centre investment, and enable low-cost cross-connects to suppliers and carriers. The challenge was to deliver a reliable, scalable and cost‑effective voice service while accessing new customers and partners inside the data centre ecosystem.

Gamma deployed its PoP in Equinix’s Slough IBX and used Equinix Marketplace to gain visibility to about 400 local prospects and 4,000 global customers; in three months it received five Marketplace contacts (two active opportunities) and gained access to roughly 80 carriers. The move accelerated integration for co‑located customers, reduced latency and costs, improved resilience and performance, and created new revenue streams—e.g., a London borough ported 14,000 DDIs and cut cost per channel by more than 50%.
