Digital Transformation in the Cloud Drives Government Efficiency

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is a UK government executive agency responsible for driving tests, MOTs and vehicle safety across more than 500 locations and 4,600 staff. As the agency moved services to the public cloud to improve efficiency, reduce vendor lock-in and support a mobile workforce, its VPN firewall reached capacity and DVSA needed faster, more reliable, and flexible connectivity to multiple cloud providers.

DVSA adopted Equinix Fabric to create private, software‑defined connections to AWS, Azure and other providers via Platform Equinix, integrating with its MPLS network to keep traffic off the public internet. The interconnection-first approach cut latency from 25 ms to 8 ms, reduced new connection provisioning from months to under an hour, enabled automated roll‑out of cloud services to staff across 500+ sites, delivered zero downtime and made it easy to switch cloud vendors to save cost and increase agility.
