Case Study: Continental achieves 70% faster AI training with Equinix

A Equinix Case Study

Preview of the Continental Case Study

Continental slashes AI training time by 70% with Platform Equinix® to make vehicles safer faster

Continental, a global auto parts and mobility technology company, needed to accelerate AI learning for its Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to improve vehicle safety. The team had to collect and process more than 150 TB of image and sensor data from Europe, the Americas and Asia and make it quickly accessible to hundreds of engineers worldwide — a challenge that required a central, low-latency, scalable repository and fast time to market.

Continental colocated NVIDIA DGX GPU servers and an IBM ESS 3000 storage system on Platform Equinix, using Equinix Fabric, Cross Connects and local IBX services to interconnect global data sources and speed access. The deployment was completed in two weeks and cut AI training time by 70% (from weeks to days), enabled 14× more deep-learning experiments per month, provided room to scale compute and storage, and met the company’s sustainability requirements.
