A Equinix Case Study
Colony Brands, a large U.S. multichannel e‑commerce and catalog merchandiser (via its SC Data Center affiliate), faced legacy on‑premises data warehousing and back‑office systems that couldn’t deliver real‑time business intelligence, reliable QoS during peak seasons, or cost‑efficient cloud integration. The company needed higher bandwidth, more secure connectivity to AWS, better disaster recovery and lower network costs while supporting analytics, VDI and contact center workloads.
By deploying an Equinix‑anchored hybrid architecture (IBX, Performance Hub and Equinix Fabric) and replacing its MPLS backbone with redundant 10 Gbps point‑to‑point links to AWS, Colony Brands moved VM workloads and analytics to the cloud with private, low‑latency interconnection and optimized WAN design. The result: 50% lower voice/data networking costs, throughput increased from 200 Mbps to 10 Gbps, improved QoS and faster data processing, scalable cloud backups/BCDR, and an 81% IRR within one year.
