Zoom Video Communications, Inc., a provider of a unified communications platform for video meetings, voice, webinars and chat, faced rapid global growth and needed a cost-effective way to establish presence in new markets (particularly Asia‑Pacific and Europe) while meeting rising demands for scalability, security and private connectivity from regulated customers in finance, government and healthcare. To bypass the public internet and support aggressive expansion, Zoom sought a partner that could deliver high-performance, private interconnection and global data center reach.

Zoom partnered with Equinix and used Platform Equinix — deploying in IBX data centers across nine markets and placing multiple sites per region for disaster recovery — while leveraging Equinix Internet Exchange and ECX Fabric for fast peering and on-demand virtual connections. The result was rapid, secure delivery of Zoom’s UC services worldwide (services provisioned in two to three days), lower network costs, improved latency and scalability, and maintained regulatory-compliant privacy for enterprise customers.
