Department of Fire and Emergency Services transforms volunteer engagement for 19,000+ volunteers with Equilibrium

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) faced the challenge of modernizing its outdated volunteer management system, which was critical for engaging over 19,000 emergency service volunteers. The legacy system suffered from poor usability and limited features, necessitating a complete rebuild. DFES engaged Equilibrium, a Progress Sitefinity Premier Partner, to lead the technical development and implementation of a new, robust platform.

Equilibrium delivered a custom-built Sitefinity platform featuring a bespoke SharePoint Connector, a user-centered chatbot, and a focus on WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility compliance. The solution transformed volunteer engagement, allowing users to easily manage profiles and access resources. The project was an instant success with volunteers and won the Progress Sitefinity Website of the Year Award for the Public Sector.
