University of Texas - Customer Case Study

The University of Texas System, one of the nation’s largest public higher‑education systems with roughly 108,000 employees across 15 institutions, faced widespread layoffs after state budget cuts and a slow economy. Affected staff ranged from faculty and researchers to IT, nurses and support personnel across diverse regions, and rising reimbursable unemployment costs (UI expenses grew from $3M in 2006 to $8.5M in 2011) created a significant financial and morale challenge.

After a competitive RFP, Equifax Reemployment Services was chosen to provide tailored help — 10 weeks of one‑on‑one job coaching, online job‑search tools and a virtual job club — rolled out in April 2011 for eligible separated employees. Between April 2011 and January 2012 over 400 people used the program, producing faster reemployment, an estimated net savings of $325,756 in unemployment charges, improved morale and employee relations, and continued use of the service.
