ServiceMaster, which serves residential and commercial customers through a network of over 5,500 company-owned and franchised locations, was relying on a paper payroll process that required overnighting more than 30,000 checks and paystubs weekly to about 1,100 sites. The decentralized system consumed staff time (each location spent up to two hours on payday distributing pay), was costly to print and ship, and had only about 50% direct deposit participation.

After evaluating vendors, ServiceMaster implemented Equifax’s paperless pay solution, offering internet/phone/fax access, English/Spanish support, and self-service banking updates. The change eliminated roughly $1 million annually in paper, printing, and shipping costs, increased direct deposit participation to 75%, removed several industrial printers, and freed up hundreds of annual labor hours.
