A Fortune 500 food distributor with nearly $4 billion in 2004 sales and more than 150 locations was hiring roughly 12,000 new employees a year and wanted to increase WOTC/8850 tax credit claims before the next filing. Participation and credits were low under the prior vendor because HR was understaffed, communications to stores were unclear, and the phone‑in method produced compliance but not submitted 8850 forms.

Equifax redesigned the process by mailing customized 8850 pamphlet packets to each location, removing the phone‑in step, following up with calls to walk hiring managers through the forms, providing Spanish‑language in‑person assistance where needed, and issuing monthly compliance reports with targeted follow‑up. Participation and credits increased substantially—well beyond the company’s expectations—and continue to improve.
