Duke University Medical Center and Health System faced fragmented space data across 12 million sq ft and roughly 400 buildings, with different departments using homegrown, flat-file, and “shadow” systems for space tracking. To create a single authoritative institutional space database, Duke turned to Archibus by Eptura to unify CAD-linked space records, plant accounting data, and departmental inventories into one consistent system.

Duke’s Administrative Development Group built a Space Tracking and Reporting (STAR) web app on the Archibus platform, added Duke-specific tables, and expanded Archibus licenses so all stakeholders could edit and share the same data. Using Eptura’s Archibus, Duke achieved more accurate and timely reporting—95% occupancy accuracy, $120,000+ in annual operating efficiencies, improved preventive maintenance and customer satisfaction—and now uses the integrated data for cost allocation, grant-space analysis, compliance reporting, forecasting, and facility operations.
