Lawn Tennis Association site wins Webby Award

The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) set out to grow tennis participation and become the world’s premier digital resource for the sport by relaunching www.lta.org.uk in time for Wimbledon 2008. The challenge was to capture the energy of tennis and drive exponential returns on a relatively modest digital budget while meeting the high seasonal demand around the championships.

Working with digital agency Fortune Cookie and Episerver CMS, the new site added live BBC news feeds, Google Maps player-location features, and tighter integration with LTA internal systems—while remaining easy for nontechnical staff to update. Since launch the site has seen a 20% rise in page hits, a 39% increase in unique visitors (with record daily highs), major gains in search activity (player +19%, tournament +148%, rankings +167%), improved organic rankings and a Webby “Honoured” recognition in the Associations category.
