A Episerver Case Study
FENS (Federation of European Neuroscience Societies) needed to move from nearly 20 separate data silos and a distributed modular setup to a single, centrally managed data warehouse to capture diverse scientist interactions (meetings, training, awards, publications) and simplify IT administration from its Brussels office. The existing infrastructure, split across servers in Berlin and Bordeaux, made it hard to build complete member profiles, run targeted campaigns, or present a cohesive public face.
Nemetos implemented Episerver in two phases (website, then a consolidated member/non‑member area), mapping 17 legacy databases into one searchable platform organized around five activity pillars. The solution added SSO to partner sites, PayPal meeting payments, and Episerver Mail for targeted outreach, enabling non‑member profiling and personalized journeys. Results included a 75% reduction in administrative web staff, membership growth from 19,553 to 23,000 (18% increase), and dramatic traffic gains (sessions up 9x to 270,000; users up 8x to 100,707; page views >12x to 2,028,452), plus smoother operations and more effective marketing.
