E-commerce success for Norway’s largest clothing retailer

Varner Group is one of Scandinavia’s largest clothing retailers—operating over 1,300 stores and more than $1.5 billion in annual turnover across brands like Cubus, Dressmann and Bik Bok. After an early, unsuccessful e-commerce attempt in 1999, the company needed a flexible, scalable online solution that could support multiple brands, countries and frequent three-week campaign cycles while improving the customer experience.

Varner implemented Episerver CMS (from 2008) and Episerver Commerce (2012), integrating M3 ERP and inRiver PIM with help from partners Geta and Creuna, and built a dedicated digital media team to bridge tech and marketing. The iterative, simplicity-focused approach delivered strong results: about 3 million site visits per month across pre-shopping sites, 90% of Dressmann online customers take a campaign product, low cart abandonment and a scalable platform for ongoing growth.
