Arriva Bus Reshapes Online Journey

Arriva, one of the UK’s largest bus operators serving over 1.5 billion passengers annually, faced the challenge of modernising a high-traffic website (5 million page views/month) to deliver a personalised, mobile-first experience for commuters, leisure travellers and local authorities. Episerver partner Freestyle Interactive was engaged to overhaul the site, improve journey planning, boost ticket sales and give content editors more flexibility.

Using Episerver’s responsive and adaptive capabilities, Freestyle implemented device-based personalisation, audience segmentation, A/B testing and integrations with Oracle CRM and a third-party journey-planning provider (mapping 900 services and timetables). The result: a seamless cross-device experience with improved timetables and maps, a richer ecommerce and customer portal, faster campaign management via a simpler CMS, increased revenue, better mobile journeys and a scalable platform that handles seasonal traffic spikes while reducing operating costs.
