Kinematic Automation, Inc., a Sonora, CA–based supplier of custom automated manufacturing systems for the medical and diagnostics industries, faced challenges supporting a low-volume, build-to-order environment. The company needed stronger manufacturing ERP functionality, real-time data access, SolidWorks integration, a single master schedule to replace disparate departmental scheduling and tribal knowledge, and a compressed five-month go-live.

Kinematic implemented Epicor ERP with partner Cre8tive Technology and Design, giving nearly every department a unified system for quoting, order management, scheduling, inventory and reporting. The result: sales order cycle time fell from about three days to two hours (>90% reduction), on-time delivery improved by more than 66%, workflow spikes were smoothed to increase throughput with existing resources, and custom reporting was retired in favor of SQL Server/SSRS and Epicor business queries for better visibility and fewer errors.
