PDS Industries (Precision Defense Services) of Irwin, PA is a 110-employee aerospace and defense manufacturer of precision machined parts serving customers like Boeing and Bell. Facing cumbersome, custom legacy systems and a manually run shop floor that was laborious, costly and error-prone, PDS launched a company-wide process improvement initiative to modernize operations and improve competitiveness.

PDS partnered with Epicor to implement a single-source ERP and shop-floor automation, including eight manufacturing execution stations and automated scheduling. The rollout consolidated legacy systems, eliminated many manual errors, increased shop-floor throughput, improved lead-time accuracy and delivery speed, and boosted front- and back-office efficiencies while supporting aerospace compliance.
