MSI Building Supplies, a lumber and building materials supplier in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, faced declining revenue after a downturn in tourism and recognized they weren’t using their Epicor Falcon system to its full potential. Inventory counts were unreliable, pricing and invoicing processes were complex, and the company needed greater efficiency and visibility to protect margins.
MSI engaged Epicor’s Business Accelerator — a two-day on-site review and written action plan — and implemented both quick wins (monthly accounting and daily gross-margin reports) and deeper changes (requiring showroom orders for warehouse pick-up and simplifying pricing from eight tiers to four). The result was more accurate inventory, faster detection of pricing and receiving issues, simplified pricing, improved margins, and fuller utilization of the Falcon system.
