Morristown Utilities Commission, a utility provider serving about 25,500 customers in Tennessee, wanted to streamline a heavily paper-based Accounts Payable process that relied on manual approvals, interoffice mail, and handwritten 3-way matching across 150 employees and seven worksites. It partnered with Epicor and Mosaic Corporation to replace those workflows with Epicor ECM AP Automation and related document capture tools.
Epicor implemented a fully digital AP workflow that captures, routes, approves, matches, and stores invoices electronically, including integration with Microsoft Dynamics GP. The results included processing about 200 invoices per month, cutting AP staffing from 2 FTEs to 1, eliminating file-drawer storage, and enabling remote bill payment during COVID-19; auditors also no longer needed on-site visits because records could be sent electronically.
