Glasgow-based Morrison Bowmore Distillers (MBD), owner of Bowmore, Auchentoshan and Glen Garioch and part of Suntory, was growing rapidly (around £30M turnover) but relied on an ageing HP 3000 and a mix of bespoke and packaged software. The legacy systems created silos and could not manage long-maturation bulk whisky stocks, blending/bottling processes or the detailed Customs & Excise reporting required by the industry, so MBD needed to future-proof its operations.

MBD implemented Epicor Tropos ERP with the Tropos Whisky Workbench across five sites, automating C&E reporting, improving management of bulk spirit, and streamlining blending and bottling workflows. The go-live migrated over 1 million records with near-perfect reconciliation (stock value within £36), enabled richer financial reporting via Cognos, and delivered an estimated £200,000/year savings from reduced stockholding and headcount while providing a scalable platform for international expansion.
