Millar Western Forest Products, Alberta’s largest privately held softwood lumber producer with three high-speed sawmills, needed to use IT to improve speed, turnaround and operational efficiency in order to compete in U.S. and Asian export markets. With a long history of tech investment, the company sought a system to streamline sales, shipping, customs and financial workflows as it grew and acquired new operations.

Millar Western implemented Epicor LumberTrack as an out‑of‑the‑box solution, integrating a new Fox Creek mill and linking EDI to customs brokers. The system accelerated invoicing and month‑end reconciliation, sped production of shipping and customs documentation, consolidated acquired-mill data, reduced in‑house IT needs, and delivered better reporting—improving efficiency and strengthening the company’s competitive position internationally.
