Increasing Payroll Calculation Speed Accelerating Report Generation at Nova-Zinc

Nova-Zinc, the Akzhal-based division of Chelyabinsk Zinc Plant in Kazakhstan, produces and processes zinc ore and faced a complex, resource‑intensive payroll challenge. Its bespoke payroll system struggled with multi‑criteria calculations, piecework‑time schemes and slow report generation, creating high labor costs and long processing times.

Working with Epicor’s UrZA partner, Nova-Zinc implemented Epicor iScala Advanced Payroll (project run March–December 2008) with customizations for piecework‑time forms. The solution automated employee records, timekeeping, payroll calculation and labor-cost analysis, cutting payroll labor effort, increasing calculation speed tenfold and accelerating regulatory and management report generation by about five days.
