Cosma International, a Victor, Iowa division of Magna International and a Tier‑1 automotive supplier, was hampered by inaccurate inventory, no electronic data interchange (EDI), spreadsheet‑based scheduling, and virtually no shop‑floor visibility. Their legacy system required time‑consuming manual reporting and could not support the traceability, scheduling, or real‑time metrics needed for automotive compliance and efficient operations.

Cosma implemented Epicor CMS with event‑based shop‑floor reporting and Epicor Informance for manufacturing intelligence, plus the Whiteboard Scheduler and reliable EDI integration. The solution uses barcode scanning, PLC/OPC connectivity and real‑time dashboards to automate reporting and traceability, improve scheduling, and deliver near‑instant metrics; inventory accuracy rose from the low 90s to 99.7%, physical inventories were minimized, delivery reliability improved, and supervisors and operators gained actionable insights for continuous improvement.
