Epicor HCM Helps The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Through A Crisis

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) in Charlotte, Florida — a law enforcement agency with about 610 employees across nine locations — struggled with fragmented employee information spread across multiple Access databases, spreadsheets, specialty software and paper files. This made records hard to access, prone to corruption, and ill-suited to CCSO’s paramilitary structure; the problem became urgent after Hurricane Charley when the agency needed to quickly identify employees with nonstandard skills for recovery work.

CCSO implemented Epicor HCM, a web-based, customizable HRIS that consolidated data, added self-service and powerful reporting, and allowed custom fields for bureau/division/section/squad and incentive-pay rules. The system delivered faster HR workflows, improved accreditation reporting, a searchable skills database used during the hurricane response, and eliminated the inefficiencies and data integrity issues of the prior stand-alone systems.
