After 20 years, Canplas continues to improve OEE in a complex family-parts environment

Canplas Industries, a Barrie, Ontario manufacturer of plastic plumbing, ventilation and vacuum fittings, faced a complex family‑parts production environment with up to 16 part numbers per mold, manual assembly processes, and pressure to improve on‑time delivery and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

By deploying Epicor Mattec MES for real‑time machine monitoring, family‑mold tracking and virtual machines for manual processes, Canplas gained production traceability and automated job allocation to the most efficient machines. The result: about a 1% annual OEE improvement over three years, scrap reduced from 5% to under 2%, ~99% cycle efficiency, lower downtime and faster, more reliable deliveries.
