Dis-Chem improves system health with a cost-effective migration to HANA

Dis-Chem Pharmacies, a major South African retail pharmacy chain, required new infrastructure and a migration of its SAP systems from DB2 to the SAP HANA database. This initiative was driven by the goal of aligning with the SAP roadmap and realizing significant commercial savings by eliminating DB2 license costs. To manage this complex project, Dis-Chem selected EPI-USE Labs for a solution involving migration and ongoing managed services.

EPI-USE Labs executed a meticulous migration of Dis-Chem's entire SAP landscape, including BW, EWM, ECC, and PI systems, to a new on-premise HANA environment. The project, which involved numerous upgrades and migrations, was completed in just 13 weeks. The results were substantial, including a massive 8TB reduction in storage space, considerable system performance improvements, and cost savings. Dis-Chem now benefits from real-time reporting and a process for stores to place category orders in under an hour, a task that previously took all morning. EPI-USE Labs continues to provide ongoing managed services to support the new environment.
