Liberty Global, a major converged communications company, aimed to overcome the limitations of its existing connectivity app, which provided a poor customer experience. The app was confined to basic in-home router controls and lacked integration with the company's broader cloud services. Partnering with EPAM Systems, Liberty Global sought to develop a new solution, the Connect App, to create a seamless and ubiquitous connection for its millions of subscribers across Europe.
EPAM developed the Connect App, a mobile platform that provided users with an intuitive interface to manage their home networks and automatically connect to millions of WiFi hotspots. The solution included a harmonized abstraction layer to unify functionalities across different countries and brands. The results were significant, with over three million downloads and 400,000 monthly active users. The app successfully reduced operating expenses by enabling customer self-troubleshooting and dramatically decreased time-to-market through a new agile delivery approach implemented by EPAM.
