Helping Marathon Oil Create a Next-Generation Cloud Native Data Platform

Marathon Oil Corporation, an independent oil and gas company based in Houston, needed to modernize its data foundation so it could make data more accessible and support more data-driven decisions. To do this, Marathon Oil worked with EPAM Systems to design a next-generation cloud native data platform that could handle data ingestion, transformation, and consumption from many sources while supporting scalable, low-operations cloud delivery.

EPAM Systems built the platform on AWS and Snowflake using serverless services, infrastructure as code, and automated CI/CD, while integrating with existing security and analytics tools. EPAM Systems also migrated more than 20 data pipelines and datasets from an on-premises Hadoop environment to the new platform, helping Marathon Oil reduce software licensing costs and operational overhead, improve performance and reliability, and create a repeatable process for adding new data pipelines.
