The international division of a large U.S.-based pharmaceutical company partnered with EPAM Systems. The challenge was to determine if they could effectively identify, reach, and influence patients in emerging markets suffering from knee pain to increase engagement with a specific non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug through social media.
EPAM implemented its iSwarm social media activation technology to monitor and analyze millions of Twitter conversations, identifying and geo-locating qualified patient personas. They then executed a targeted campaign in two countries using promoted tweets with educational content. The campaign demonstrated it was possible to find a significant audience, with engagement rates reaching 20.85%. EPAM's solution proved the model's effectiveness, projecting millions in additional annual revenue for the client and a new, measurable method for pharmaceutical marketing.
