Epam Builds First-Of-Its-Kind Poison Emergency App & Online Triage Tool

The National Capital Poison Center, an independent not-for-profit, faced a disturbing trend: rising poisoning deaths despite decreasing calls to its hotline, as people turned to unreliable online information in emergencies. To address this, the NCPC engaged EPAM to build a first-of-its-kind online triage tool and application to provide trusted, immediate guidance.

EPAM designed and built webPOISONCONTROL®, a free mobile and web application featuring a vast substance database, barcode scanning, and a complex algorithmic engine to analyze exposures. This solution delivers accurate, life-saving recommendations, directing users to either stay home or seek further medical care. The innovation by EPAM has created a vital public resource that helps decrease unnecessary ER visits and provides critical advice during poison emergencies.
