Sugarcane Growers and Mills in Veracruz model 20% yield risk by 2100 with EOS

The sugarcane growers and mills in Veracruz, Mexico, faced significant uncertainty due to climate change and required reliable, region-specific predictions of its impact on future sugarcane biomass and sucrose levels for practical adaptation planning. To address this challenge, EOS Data Analytics (EOSDA) employed its scientific modeling services, combining climate projections with the WOFOST crop growth model.

EOSDA modeled future sugarcane performance under two climate scenarios, which indicated probable declines in yields and sugar content, along with increased production variability and more pronounced heat and water stress across the state.
