Preview of the Weeefiner Case Study

Weeefiner achieves up to 100% raw material recovery with EOS

Weeefiner, a Finnish technology company, needed a manufacturing method capable of producing the precise internal geometries required for its 4D Scavenger™ filtration technology. Established methods lacked the design freedom to create the chemically porous polymer filters essential for recovering minute concentrations of raw materials from industrial waters. To overcome this production hurdle and scale their sustainable solution, Weeefiner turned to polymer 3D printing solutions from vendor EOS GmbH.

By implementing an EOS P 396 3D printer, EOS GmbH enabled Weeefiner to manufacture the core filters for its system. A key part of the solution was EOS's support in optimizing process parameters and the successful use of 100% reused PA 2200 powder. The results include filters with up to 100% selectivity in raw material recovery and an 86% reduction in the product carbon footprint. For one mining customer, the technology achieved an annual recovery of copper worth millions of euros, with a return on investment typically within six months.
