A EOS GmbH Case Study
WAGO GmbH & Co. KG, a manufacturer of electrical connection components, faced the challenge of rapidly prototyping a new, miniaturized junction box with a complex and filigree cable strain relief mechanism. The prototypes needed to be of exceptionally high quality to pass rigorous functional and safety tests and closely resemble the final injection-molded series part, all while meeting tight time-to-market demands.
EOS GmbH implemented its Fine Detail Resolution (FDR) 3D printing technology using a FORMIGA P 110 FDR machine and PA 1101 material to produce the required small, precise parts. This solution from EOS enabled WAGO to create robust, fully functional prototypes with about 80% of the series part's quality, which successfully passed all laboratory tests. The process drastically reduced prototype turnaround time from 1-2 weeks to just about two days and allowed for the efficient production of repeatable test batches of 10-50 parts in a single run.
