Theo Hillers GmbH reduces robotic hand weight by 20% with EOS GmbH

The pharmaceutical supplier Theo Hillers GmbH was facing a challenge in automating the handling of sieves and sprues. Their existing sprue picker had limitations due to tight spaces, high quality requirements, and a strict maximum weight limit of 500 grams for the required robotic hand. To address this, they worked with vendor EOS GmbH, whose EOSINT P 390 system was used to create a solution.

EOS implemented an additive manufacturing solution, producing a robotic hand from polyamide. This innovative approach resulted in an extremely lightweight and compact design with a 20% weight reduction and less wastage in the production process. For Theo Hillers GmbH, this led to increased process reliability, which more than compensated for the slightly higher production costs. The success of this project demonstrated EOS's capability to provide special solutions for highly specific requirements.
