Swiss Drone Services AG faced the challenge of developing a lightweight, stable, and highly customized cleaning lance and nozzle assembly for its industrial cleaning drones. The component needed to withstand high-pressure water jets while minimizing weight to maximize flight time and dampening vibrations to protect the drone's electronics. They partnered with EOS GmbH, whose EOS M 290 system and EOS Aluminum AlSi10Mg material were used by their manufacturing partner, Ecoparts AG, to create a solution.

The solution from EOS GmbH involved producing a topologically optimized, monolithic part via additive manufacturing. This resulted in a 40% weight reduction and a 60% reduction in peak vibrations at the drone mount. The rapid, toolless production process also enabled a concept-to-final-part delivery in just three weeks, allowing Swiss Drone Services AG to successfully launch a commercially viable and competitive drone cleaning service.
