Siemens Energy reduces gas turbine repair time by 90% with EOS GmbH

Siemens Energy, a manufacturer of industrial gas turbines, faced the challenge of repairing burner tips that operate at temperatures exceeding 1,000°C. Their conventional repair process was time-consuming and required replacing large sections of the component. To find a more precise and cost-effective solution, Siemens Energy partnered with EOS GmbH.

EOS GmbH customized an EOSINT M 280 system by enlarging its build chamber and amending both hardware and software to accommodate the repair of entire 800 mm burners. This allowed Siemens to add material only to the worn sections, drastically streamlining the process. The solution implemented by EOS GmbH resulted in a 90% reduction in repair time and enabled older turbine versions to be upgraded to the latest design standards during maintenance.
