RUAG reduces satellite bracket weight by 40% with EOS GmbH

The Swiss technology group RUAG faced the challenge of producing an extremely lightweight and robust antenna bracket for its Sentinel satellite, where every gram saved reduces high launch costs. They partnered with vendor EOS GmbH, utilizing additive manufacturing technology and guidance to achieve a design that balanced weight and rigidity.

EOS implemented a solution using their EOS M 400 system and EOS Aluminium AlSi10Mg material to produce the component. The result was a certified part that exceeded minimum rigidity requirements by 30% and achieved a 40% weight reduction, significantly lowering system costs while ensuring reliability for space deployment.
