Maschinenfabrik Herkules cuts part delivery time to 3 weeks with EOS GmbH

Maschinenfabrik Herkules, a world-leading manufacturer of large roll grinders and lathes, faced a production challenge with its specialized steady rest components. Using conventional milling methods resulted in excessive reworking, unprofitable processes, and long delivery times of up to twelve weeks. To solve this, Herkules turned to additive manufacturing technology from vendor EOS GmbH, integrating an EOSINT P 760 system.

By bringing EOS's 3D printing in-house and using PA 2200 polymer, Herkules achieved transformative results. The vendor's solution enabled Herkules to slash part delivery times from 12 weeks to just 3 weeks and accelerate part changeover by 70%, eliminating the need for a crane. This also achieved annual cost savings of several thousand euros per machine, while producing complex, durable components that were previously unattainable with traditional methods.
