The customer, LMD, a specialist in automation robotics, faced the challenge of automating delicate baking processes. They needed a food-safe gripper that was hygienic, lightweight, and capable of delicate handling without the external hoses that complicate cleaning and restrict movement. Conventional manufacturing methods were insufficient, so they partnered with vendor EOS GmbH to find an advanced additive manufacturing solution.

EOS GmbH provided its EOS P 396 system and Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) technology to produce a multi-material, one-piece gripper with integrated pneumatic channels. This solution eliminated external hoses, simplified cleaning, and enabled 24/7 automated operation. The results included a more compact and cost-efficient system, a significant reduction in potential failure points, and the ability to ensure fresh goods are available without overproduction or wasted labor.
