Conflux Technology boosts heat rejection 300% with EOS GmbH

Conflux Technology, a company specializing in heat exchangers, faced the challenge of increasing the performance of its heat exchangers while simultaneously reducing their weight. Traditional subtractive manufacturing methods had reached their limits for creating the complex, high-performance geometries required. They partnered with vendor EOS GmbH to utilize industrial 3D printing.

The solution implemented by EOS GmbH involved using an EOS M 290 system and EOS Aluminum AlSi10Mg material to manufacture Conflux's patented design. This additive manufacturing approach enabled highly complex internal geometries that radically increased surface area. The results were a 300% higher heat rejection, a two-thirds reduction in pressure drop, and a 22% weight reduction, dramatically outperforming a Formula 1 benchmark.
