Envizi Supports Metcash’s Ambitious Sustainability Targets

Metcash Limited, Australia’s leading wholesale distribution and marketing company, needed to eliminate manual data capture and streamline integration with its SAP system and key utility suppliers to meet ambitious sustainability targets and reporting obligations such as NGERS. To address this, Metcash selected IBM Envizi ESG Suite (Envizi’s Sustainability Reporting solution) to centralize and automate its environmental data capture and reporting.

IBM Envizi ESG Suite consolidated Metcash’s energy, fuel, water and carbon emissions data into a single system of record, integrated with its invoice scanning bureau and utility feeds, and delivered near‑real‑time reporting across 75 business entities. The platform enabled faster NGERS reporting, performance tracking and benchmarking, and supported pilots — notably a lighting retrofit expected to save 72,266 kWh/year (58.75 tCO2e), A$8,670 in annual power costs and a 3–4 year payback — with potential national rollouts that could save the company millions.
