Kent County increases transparency by linking performance with strategy

Kent County, MI — home to more than 675,000 residents — had built a strong performance management culture but found its homegrown database unable to align measures with the 2019–2023 Strategic Plan or support timely, transparent reporting. To replace manual, ad-hoc reporting and better tie projects and metrics to strategic priorities, Kent County selected Envisio’s performance management platform and public dashboard.

Envisio helped Kent County map measures to plan elements, run gap analyses, centralize project-level data, and automate reminders and reporting, creating a single source of truth for leaders and staff. The implementation reduced manual effort around Board reports, enabled more timely and frequent departmental reporting, improved cross-department collaboration, and delivered an interactive public dashboard that transparently shows residents how the county is tracking against its strategic goals.
