How Ferndale simplifies, executes, and communicates a $20 million plan

The City of Ferndale, MI—a densely populated Oakland County community of about 20,000 residents—needed to incorporate a $20 million investment and a 120+ item strategic plan into everyday operations while improving prioritization, interdepartmental alignment, and public accountability. To meet this challenge the City of Ferndale partnered with Envisio and its planning/performance management tools to organize and communicate the megaproject.

Envisio helped the city break the plan into bite-sized initiatives, align every department to top-level outcomes, and move to quarterly implementation, reflection and reporting cycles. The Envisio-powered performance dashboard made progress reporting and public engagement easier—allowing staff to tie budget requests to goals, surface bottlenecks, and show measurable stewardship of the $20 million investment—giving council and residents clearer, drill‑down visibility into what’s been achieved.
