Envisio performance analytics makes Maplewood’s city strategic plan sticky

The City of Maplewood, MN (pop. ~40,000) struggled with a disorganized, 20‑page spreadsheet approach to its strategic plan that hindered reporting, staff engagement and public transparency. To tighten priorities, enable regular analytics, and share progress with residents, the City Manager’s Office adopted Envisio’s performance analytics platform and public dashboard to manage strategy execution and track performance.

Envisio centralized Maplewood’s strategic work—about 25 users now update color‑coded dashboards, automated quarterly reports go to department heads and City Council, and an Envisio-powered public dashboard shares progress with residents. The change improved staff engagement, broke down departmental silos, sped decision-making, increased transparency and public trust, and earned Maplewood an ICMA Certificate of Achievement in Performance Management in 2021.
