United Nations Environment Program advances UN campus renovation with ERM’s review of US$1.5 billion green building design

The United Nations Environment Program faced the challenge of renovating its New York headquarters to meet modern building codes, security, and environmental performance goals. They engaged Environmental Resources Management (ERM) to review the renovation designs against LEED benchmarks and to propose innovative "blue sky" features to create a unique signature for the complex.

ERM assembled a global team to evaluate the design and identify additional improvements in energy, water, landscaping, and materials. They provided a detailed report confirming the design's advanced environmental performance and a list of potential innovative features. As a result, the client is reviewing ERM's recommendations and is likely to incorporate many into the final renovation design.
